Symon Enterprise Software (SES)

Symon Enterprise Software (SES) is the engine that drives Symon’s content management system. SES is responsible for collecting content from various sources, repurposing it according to pre-defined business rules and then distributing the repurposed content to the visual solution end-points. SES takes its direction from Design Studio, which is in essence the “control panel” for directing where SES will get its content and where it will deliver it after it has been synthesized.

SES’s strength lies within its ability to accept and process high volumes of data transactions. Other features of SES include the following:

  • Controls the flow of content to and between IP addressable end-points
  • Capable of assessing the connection status of network elements
  • Interfaces with numerous external data sources
    • Automatic Call Distributors
    • Labor Management Systems
    • Scheduling and Calendaring Systems
    • POS Systems o Help Desk Systems
    • Network Management Systems
    • Warehouse Management Systems
    • Transportation Management Systems
    • Hospitality Event Management Systems
Design Studio

Design Studio is a client software application that allows you to control the look, feel and usability of display solutions within your visual communications network. The Design Studio application also allows you to schedule content (i.e. day parting) on individual displays on groups of displays. The following are just some of the things that you can do with Design Studio:

  • Define the number of displays within a network
  • Define groups of displays within a network
  • Define the layouts of display(s) within the network
  • Define a the areas within a screen layout
  • Define content that will appear in each layout
  • Define the transitions between content elements
  • Define logic triggers for content (e.g. if some threshold set, show X)
  • Define the schedules that content will play – individual areas or entire shows
  • Define event logging and proof of play parameters

Some of the key features of Design Studio are as follows:

  • One application for defining the look, feel, usability of all solution-types
  • Multi-level permissions for large team collaboration
  • Pre-designed templates for accelerating design initiatives
  • Inclusion of external feeds, e.g. satellite, cable, broadcast feeds
  • Creation of Interactive displays

The Architecture

Symon sells and supports a “premises-based” content management system for its fixed-inbuilding installations and a “hosted” system for its mobility solutions.

A premises-based solution requires that you host Symon’s software on your server hardware located on your premises, connected to your network, running behind your firewall. A premises-based solution is well suited to deployments that allow you to:

  • Maintain maximum control over the hardware & software
  • Achieve a maximum level of security via a closed network
  • Delivery a predictable level of costs as business needs change
  • Grow the number of solution end-points on a cost effective basis
  • Integrate a large number of solution-types on the same network
  • Access a highly sophisticated design and solution management tool

Technology Platform
Symon’s content management system is built on Microsoft’s most advanced technology platform for ease of integration and for delivering maximum scalability. Features on Symon’s implementation of Microsoft’s platform include the following:

  • .Net Framework
  • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
  • Windows Communications Foundation (WCF)
  • Windows System Administration
  • SQL Server
  • Windows Embedded
  • Silverlight
